What this lens is good for
Tight portraits
The 150mm full-frame equivalent is a longer portrait length that gives strong compression and a very defocused background, ideal for dramatic, isolated head-and-shoulders shots. This lens is also one of the sharpest ever made for the format, so detail is exceptional even wide open.
Stage, sports, and candid
The reach and f/1.8 aperture suit indoor performances, recitals, and candid shots from a distance where you want to fill the frame without intruding. It has no weather sealing, so it is best kept to indoor and fair-weather use, but optically it is a standout.
