The G6 from 2013 was a mid-range G-series body built around a 16MP Live MOS sensor with a fully articulated touchscreen and a 1.44MP EVF. It skipped IBIS but added Wi-Fi, a mic port, and 1080p video in a relatively lightweight 390g body. It sat below the GH-series and above the GF-series in Panasonic's lineup at the time. Long discontinued, it has no practical advantage over more recent bodies on the used market unless the price is extremely low. It replaces the Panasonic Lumix G5. It has been succeeded by the Panasonic Lumix G7. At 390g, this is one of the lightest M43 bodies available, 148g below the M43 average of 538g. Step up to the OM System OM-3 if you want more controls at the cost of 24g extra.
Best for: Everyday and casual photography
Cons
- No in-body image stabilisation
- Contrast-detect AF only, slower on unpredictably moving subjects
- Not weather sealed
