The G100 from 2020 was a vlogger-targeted body at 319g with a 20.3MP Live MOS sensor, a fully articulated touchscreen, a 3.68MP EVF, and 4K video. It had no IBIS, no Dual IS, no weather sealing, and no headphone jack. It was designed for content creators who wanted a compact, lightweight body with good audio features. Now discontinued, it was superseded by the G100D and offers limited advantages over it. It has been succeeded by the Panasonic Lumix G100D. At 319g, this is one of the lightest M43 bodies available, 219g below the M43 average of 538g. Step up to the Panasonic Lumix G100D if you want more controls at the cost of 14g extra.

Best for: Everyday and casual photography

Cons

  • No in-body image stabilisation
  • Contrast-detect AF only, slower on unpredictably moving subjects
  • Not weather sealed

Vlogging and content creation

The G100 was designed specifically for vlogging. It has a front-facing microphone array optimised for subject audio, a selfie-capable flip screen, and 4K recording. It is very light at 306g and pairs with the optional tripod grip for handheld vlogging.

Beginners and casual photography

Entry-level body with a viewfinder and touchscreen. No IBIS means handheld shots require good technique in low light. A reasonable starting body for someone who primarily creates content rather than shooting traditional photography. Full guide →
