The original E-M10, released in 2014, brought the OM-D styling to a budget-friendly 396g body with a 16.1MP Live MOS sensor, 3-stop IBIS, and a 1.44MP EVF. No 4K, no weather sealing. The IBIS was modest by later standards and the viewfinder resolution was low, but it offered a genuine EVF and stabilization in a compact form factor at an accessible price. Now a very cheap used buy with limited capability. It has been succeeded by the Olympus OM-D E-M10 II. At 396g, this is one of the lightest M43 bodies available, 142g below the M43 average of 538g. Step up to the OM System OM-3 if you want more controls at the cost of 18g extra.
Best for: Handheld and low-light photography
Pros
- 3-stop IBIS for handheld stability
Cons
- Contrast-detect AF only, slower on unpredictably moving subjects
- Not weather sealed
- No 4K video
Beginners and casual photography
The original E-M10 is one of the most affordable M43 bodies with a viewfinder. 3-axis IBIS and compact size. No weather sealing. Best suited to calm conditions and general casual photography at very low second-hand prices. Full guide →
